For the past 8 years, Mara Hair and Mode Studio has proudly stood with the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation in the fight against breast cancer. This cause is close to our hearts—we’ve seen friends, family, and clients face this disease with courage.
In the first years of her career, she was introduced to Bumble and Bumble and she instantly fell in love with their drive and energy. Connecting with their warm and easy culture, Jana has built her own haven for hair in the heart of old town Fairfax. Her modern take on vintage aesthetics reflects her admiration for quality that will stand against time, and her cuts are no different.
While she consistently stays on trend with her work, she maintains the quality in her cuts that she seeks in all of the vintage gear she has throughout her shop. She focuses on creating cuts that look just as beautiful and effortless after the product is washed away as it did when you were sitting in her chair.
Jana’s time spent exploring hair in New York City with Bumble and bumble tailored her style as a hair dresser, helping her to create brilliantly dimensional hair colors and strengthen her expertise in short, technical cuts with hair of any texture. Her belief that even a minimal change can make one feel confident and create more significant changes in a life as a whole has shaped her passion for her clients.
While Jana may not strive to be a world renowned hair stylist, her efforts to inspire her clients and spark their passion for themselves has become her proudest achievement as she builds her local empire.

In 2021, Paige moved to the NoVa area and, like many, found herself on the hunt for a new hairstylist. After typing in “fun and creative salons,” Mara Hair and Mode Studio was the first salon that popped up. Paige came in as a client and loved the vibe so much, that after graduating with her cosmetology degree in 2022, knew Mara was the place she wanted to call her salon home.
From a young age, Paige’s friends and family always had an inkling that she’d end up in the beauty industry. She spent her childhood cutting off her Barbie dolls’ hair, then moved on to styling friends’ updos for dances, and gave free haircuts, colors, and even a dreadlock or two in her college dorm. Paige went on to earn a masters degree from the University of Georgia, where she wrote her thesis on Millennial women and their experiences with short hair. Eventually, her true calling led her to cosmetology school, and she hasn’t looked back! Hair has and continues to be her inspiration, creativity, and passion.
Today, Paige loves crafting short pixie cuts, painting beautiful balayages, and experimenting with vibrant fashion colors. She especially loves working with fine hair; helping clients discover just what their natural hair density and texture can achieve! Paige’s chair is a welcoming, safe space for all, and she’s here to help you look and feel your absolute best.
When she’s not behind the chair, Paige enjoys reading, playing board games, completing puzzles, crocheting, and catching Broadway shows. She’s also an avid plant collector and loves naming her plants after Broadway characters. Paige loves to laugh, always has a story, and will probably talk your ear off. She currently resides in Herndon with her husband and their rescue dog.
